My Birthday Reflection
Gratitude, Growth, and the Faithfulness of God
To the woman I was, the woman I am, and the woman I am becoming, I love you.
Life has required strength I did not always know I had. I have fought many battles, seen and unseen, known and unknown. I have walked through heartbreak, disappointment, setbacks, loss, grief, and pain. I have also celebrated victories and gathered lessons that shaped my faith and refined my character. Through it all, my heart has remained grounded in Jesus.
A Grateful Heart at 54
Today, as I celebrate my 54th birthday, I stand in deep gratitude for the love, goodness, grace, mercy, protection, and provision of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His acceptance and approval remain my highest pursuit and my greatest hope for today, tomorrow, and the life to come.
My deepest desire is to hear these words at the end of my earthly journey:
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’”
Matthew 25:21 NLT
The Gift of Marriage
I am profoundly grateful for the priceless gift of love in my husband. He has been a constant and steady force in my life. Together, we have navigated rough seas, endured seasons of testing, and even lost some battles. Together we have created precious memories, laughed, cried, weep and mourn. Yet we remain fully committed to winning the war for love, marriage, family, ministry, and eternity. Thank you Carlos for staying in the good and bad times! I love you❤️
The Gift of Motherhood
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of my children (Nathanael, Sarah-Danielle, and David). Thank You for entrusting me with the honor of loving, nurturing, and stewarding these beautiful lives. It is an assignment I carry with great importance, deep commitment, and responsibility. They are older now and charting their own paths, yet I continue to cherish and embrace the gift of mothering them in this season and in the seasons still to come.
The Gift of Legacy and Community
Thank You for the gift of my mother, a steady and constant presence in my life. She has modeled love, kindness, peacemaking, compassion, tenacity, resilience, and hope. Her life has been a living lesson, and for that I am deeply thankful.
Thank You for every family member, friend, and associate You have placed in my life. Each one is a gift, adding a reflection of Your presence to my heart and journey. I love and appreciate them all.
I am also grateful for the antagonists, the naysayers, and the unbelievers You allowed along my path. They too have been instruments in Your hands, shaping and refining me into the woman I was, the woman I am, and the woman I am becoming.
A Life Sustained by Grace
Thank You for the gifts of health, hope, faith, joy, peace, and most of all, You. I may not have everything I want, but I truly have everything I need. Thank You for these 54 years of life. I look forward to many more days walking with You, growing older, wiser, and more like You with each passing year. You have been far better to me than I ever deserved.
Thank You for never leaving, forsaking, or abandoning me in moments of weakness, disobedience, stubbornness, rebellion, sin, and failure. Thank You for Your patience, kindness, longsuffering, mercy, and grace toward me, my family, and my friends. Thank You for paying a price I could never pay. My heart and soul yields fully to Your sovereign and majestic guidance.
A Word of Thanks
To every beautiful soul who came out to celebrate my birthday with me, thank you. Your presence brought joy to my soul and meant more than words can express.
The Pursuit Continues
“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instruction with kindness.
She carefully watches over her household and suffers nothing from laziness.
Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her:
‘There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all.’
Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last,
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.”
Proverbs 31:25–31 NLT
Closing Reflection: Owning This Season
At 54, I am learning to honor this season with intention and reverence. Every season carries its own assignment, beauty, and responsibility. Some seasons stretch us, some heal us, and some anchor us. This one calls me to live with wisdom, gratitude, and unwavering faith.
I am choosing to own this season, to steward it well, and to walk it out fully surrendered to God. The journey continues, and so does the pursuit of becoming more like Him.
I love You, Jesus.
