Stop Carrying What’s Not Yours
There comes a moment in every woman’s life when she must make a powerful decision. Will I carry the negativity spoken over me, or will I walk in the truth God has declared about me? You were never created to live under the weight of other people’s insecurity, fear, or brokenness. Their words are not your identity. Their opinions are not your destiny. God’s voice is the final authority over your life.
People often speak from their skewed and limited view of insight or their own wounds and trauma. Their ignorance, self-hate, immaturity, and narrow thinking can lead them to place labels on you that were never meant for you to carry. That baggage does not belong to you. You do not have to accept it. You do not have to live under it. You do not have to drag it into your future. You are who God says you are, and that truth is unchanging.
The Word of God reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. God formed you with intention, purpose, and love. He knew you long before anyone had an opinion about you. He appointed you before anyone tried to define you. The circumstances of your birth, the mistakes of your past, or the words spoken over you do not disqualify you. They are not the final chapter. God alone holds that pen.
Mistakes are not your identity; they are lessons. Every person God has used went through seasons of failure, but failure never had the authority to define them. God redeems, He restores, and He rebuilds. He turns every stumble into a strategy and every setback into strength. What others meant to break you, God uses to build you.
Jesus loves you too much to let you live beneath your calling. He calls you to thrive, stay alert, stay focused, and stay intentional. Distraction is the enemy of destiny. When you release the negativity spoken over you, you begin to move with God-given clarity. You show up with confidence. You walk with purpose. You speak with authority. You live with expectation.
Release what is not yours. Release what God never told you to carry. Stand firm in God’s truth and step boldly into your identity.
To My Younger Self
In adult life, I have had to reframe my own thought processes and release ideas and mindsets that were projected onto me by wounded, selfish, unlearned, or uninformed individuals, or simply people who did not have my best interests at heart. If I could speak to my younger self, I would advise her to interrogate every word spoken to her as advice, counsel, or discipline. Check the motives of those speaking and consider the place from which they are speaking. I would tell her never to exalt anyone’s words above God’s Word. Your worth is defined by God, not by man.
Mistakes are not disqualifiers, and failure is not final. Instead, they can become tools in God’s hand to refine, reshape, redirect, and guide us along the path He has planned. The people who are mishandling or misunderstanding you right now simply do not know your worth because they did not create you, and they cannot comprehend the depth of God’s love and care for you. Forgive them. Cry. Mourn. Heal. Grow. Do not allow their negativity, lies, abuse, or mistreatment to discourage you. All things are working together for your good. Stay focused on the Lord.
Walk away if you must, but never quit on yourself. Do not allow their bitterness to corrupt the sweetness and softness of your heart and soul. Choose Jesus. Choose yourself. Choose your destiny. Choose life. Choose love. Operate from a place of truth, faith, and divine purpose. You are highly favored and deeply loved by the Lord Jesus. Every day, wake up knowing and affirming this truth. Let your soul sing: Awake, oh my soul, for you are loved beyond measure.
